1. Who are you?
My name is André Troost. I’m a 24-year old South African from a town called Paarl in the Western Cape province of South Africa.

2. Where are you now?
I am currently studying a Masters degree in Renewable Energy and Sustainable Development at Stellenbosch University in South Africa.

3. What do you do when you’re not travelling?
Usually I’d be busy writing research papers about renewable energy or I would find myself on my family’s farm training show horses. Otherwise I spend my time discovering new folk and indie music, writing pieces about different travel experiences and spending time in the ocean.

4. What was the last piece of music you listened to?
A recent gem I found, entitled “At A Glance” by Message to Bears.

5. Tell us briefly the travel story you shared in LOST.
My story in Issue Two takes you to the craze that is the Oruro Carnival in Bolivia before a transcendence to the high altitude plains of the Potosi province in southern Bolivia. As the title suggests, Convergence is about the coming together of the sights, sounds, smells and tastes of Bolivia.

6. What do you love about travel?
The challenge of the unknown.

7. What do you hate about travel?
Loneliness.

8. Do you like to travel alone or with people? Why?
For pure enjoyment, I prefer traveling with people. Christopher McCandless was correct to a certain degree when he said that happiness is only real when shared. However, there is a different dimension of happiness that comes to the fore when traveling alone, which is the strife to a full knowing of oneself. There is no better way to discover this than traveling alone as this can be the epitome of loneliness and as such the closest connection with oneself.

9. What do you think about during travel?
The beauty and diversity of language. I also marvel at the kindness shown by locals to travelers.

10. Any future travel plans?
Haha. Don’t get me started on that! I still want to take the road across Africa from Cape Town to Cairo. Colombia, Venezuela, Mexico and Mongolia are also high on my list. Of course, this ought to be done only by public transport!

最近我發現的一首金曲名為“At A Glance”,由Message to Bears創作
